The impact of this project goes beyond success in soccer. Studies have shown that kids who participate in sports perform better academically, socially and emotionally. I am excited for this field to provide a safe place for the children to learn these life skills that will prepare them for a brighter future.

Building the children's soccer field is part of Phase 1 of Gulu Community Park. Soccer is the #1 sport in Uganda. Here are some of the soccer field highlights:

• This kids soccer field will be 55 meters by 50 meters and will accommodate one to four play areas depending on the age of the children.

​

• There will be seating for 300 excited fans and families to cheer the children on.

​

• There will be daily opportunities for children to be trained and play in friendly scrimmages.

​

• There will development of a U-12 travel team that will compete against other cities in Uganda.

​

• The soccer field will also be used for the disabled children and adults with goals and balls designed for the vision impaired.

​

• This beautiful field will be safe and well maintained for the children and families with custom fencing, regular watering and grass care for dry season and a drainage system during wet season.

• As seen in the photo above, the grass is well on it's way. Thanks to Rose Heights Church in Tyler, Texas that funded the land prep, top soil and grass that's already planted!
