World Embrace is part of a radical culture shift in Uganda toward kingdom culture. The local church is starting to work together to make Uganda more like heaven.
Many leaders of major denomination have agreed to work together to see the nation healed and changed.
In 2020, World Embrace purchased 22 acres and broke ground on the Gulu City Park. It will be the first large scale community centre in Northern Uganda and one of the biggest community centres in East Africa. This social hub will be a catalyst for change in Gulu, a neutral ground where churches and ministries can come together to positively affect the 7 major spheres of influence.
BELOW IS WORK THAT WORLD EMBRACE HAS DONE
AND IS DOING
ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
PECE WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM RENOVATION
World Embrace partnered with the local government and community in renovating the only sports stadium in Northern Uganda. The East African Games were held here in 2018.
The Gulu City Park being constructed in 2020 will have a large sports park opened in 2021. Here World Embrace will help to develop basketball, volleyball, soccer, martial arts and other sports for youth and adults. There are thousands waiting to play.
Presently World Embrace organizes high school basketball tournaments, national volleyball tournaments and helps equip different teams.
Sports teams of Gulu welcome mentoring and discipleship. In response, we will be training local chaplains to speak into the lives of many youth and children.
Local singers, songwriters and musicians are coming together to study God's word and encourage one another. World Embrace leads a monthly gathering called "Heart of the Artist". Here the artists prepare their hearts to write and produce music that honours Jesus and to live a life worthy of God's call on their lives.
GULU ADVISORY TEAM
Our advisory team meets monthly to seek God's leading. They identify opportunities and create strategies to show Jesus' love in Gulu. Our team is currently made up of Catholic, Pentecostal, Anglican, Baptist, United Methodist,Seventh Day Adventist and Orthodox believers.
In 2017, over 1,000 bibles where distributed in the Gulu area. A library has been set up to provide learning material for pastors who want to deepen their knowledge of the bible.
For two years weekly a team of believers went into the local hospitals to bring food, prayer, and support to many patients.
Many wells are in need of repair. This causes long wait times and long walks for the many families who rely on these wells for water.
This outreach has yet to begin. When funds come available for this undertaking every well we repair will have a sign with John 4:13-14.
Renovations were completed to the classrooms, sleeping quarters and bathrooms. Since 2016 two teachers were hired to provide education to children while in jail. We have also hired a lady to stay the night with the incarcerated girls and hired a artist to beautify the facilities and train the children in art.
We're praying into how we can get involved in the business sphere of influence.
The World Embrace Unity Centre has hosted many government meetings and continues to be a hub where strategic planning for the community takes place.
ONE VOICE RADIO is a live call-in radio show that aired weekly on Sunday mornings for two years. Initiated by World Embrace, it was hosted by local Christian leaders who address trending social issues. When funding comes available we would like to continue this program. Radio is the most important medium to communicate to the masses.
MEDIA TRAINING COURSES
World Embrace twice a year offers courses for local pastors, leaders and those in media to increase their ability to create quality media content.
